Posen Architects collaborated with technology innovation consultant Philips Health to design a Telehealth Center on the ground floor of the Taylor Pavilion at Westchester Medical Center’s (WMC’s) Valhalla campus. This initiative, the first of its kind in the area, provides 24/7 clinical observation of WMC’s Intensive Care Units as well as future home health monitoring programs.
From the 5,500-square-foot operations center, expertly trained medical staff monitor all patients in dozens of Intensive Care Unit beds. Twenty multimedia stations equipped with the latest monitoring technologies and software allow patients’ vital signs, bloodwork, imaging, and medications to be supervised. In addition, two-way audio and video allow the remote specialists to speak directly to patients, family, and bedside physicians and nurses. Support spaces at the facility include staff offices, conference space, a staff lounge, and consult/training rooms. The material palette – soft whites, cool neutrals, and silver accents reflect the technology-driven use of the space. Light wood tones bring warmth to the space, and a bright blue accent color energizes and represents the WMC Health brand.
