Southgate Behavior Management Unit is a functioning first floor unit that was housing 44 residents, which has been increased by six more residents for a total of 50 beds. The construction resulted in four new rooms, two resident rooms are private, and two are semi-private. The total renovation and expansion included approximately 24,000 sf of renovation of existing space and about 6,000 sf of construction of expansion space. Construction included the six new beds referenced above, a new elevator, a combined toilet and shower room, a new resident’s lounge, a new sun room, two new offices on the first floor, and a basement for storage. The added space of approximately 6,000 square feet allows for improved access to the building from all sides and provides accessible compliant spaces. The existing patient rooms and support spaces were renovated to create an aesthetically pleasing environment and provide a better flow of the residents and staff.
