Healthcare Design Magazine, one of the healthcare industry’s leading source For Design Trends in Healthcare, awarded Posen Architects the Silver Award in their annual Remodel/Renovation Competition for Posen’s transformation of an outdated Critical Care Unit at Saint Clare’s Denville Hospital.
To modernize the suite, changes needed to be minimal to maintain current licensed status. The design of the renovated 12-bed unit features new glass wall fronts with sliding doors for each patient room; new flooring and millwork, and ceiling tiles with multi-functional lighting for better acoustics and control. Embracing evidence-based design elements, the design introduced natural materials and more daylight and improved the staff area layout and sight lines. The project was accomplished with limited utility changes under stringent phasing and approvals requirements. The result of this budget-friendly project is a more comforting healing space for patients and their families and an improved staff experience.

“Much improved central core work areas and nice visibility with newer ICU sliding doors. Nice refresh to headwalls keeping much of the existing utilities.”
