Posen Architects is honored that our work with Argus Community, Inc. has been recognized with a Silver Award from AIA Newark & Suburban Architects in the 2025 Design Awards! 🏆✨
This new four-story, 45,000+ sq ft recovery facility is a beacon of hope and healing. Designed to support individuals on their recovery journey, it brings 114 inpatient beds and expanded outpatient services together in one thoughtfully designed facility.
🏥 Funded by New York Office of Addiction Services & Supports, this project merges two former inpatient programs into a single, modern space—enhancing privacy, dignity, and access to care.
🌿 Sustainability is at the core: high-performance materials, translucent daylighting panels, and energy-efficient systems promote both environmental and human wellness.
🏙️ Contextual design choices—like terra cotta cladding and strategic massing—ensure the building integrates seamlessly into the Bronx community it serves.
Thank you to AIA Newark & Suburban Architects for this incredible recognition!
Comments from the Juror’s:
Ross Padluck: This project brings thoughtful design, healing and consideration to a community that
very much deserves it.
Austin Sakong: Honors its important program through well-prioritized and focused design choices.
Imbues the spaces for its most vulnerable patients with a sense of dignity and protection.
David Corban: For a project of this size, it is easy to see that the architects considered the
pedestrian and patient scale. Exposed structure and Kalwall bring interest and luminance into
spaces that might otherwise be dreary afterthoughts. Material changes and ribbon windows
address the pedestrian.
